9.30 kick off.  Captain for the match was Thomas.

The ground was muddy and very heavy going after a lot of rain which continued on throughout the match.

Last away match to Loxwood in November ended in a nail biting 1:1 draw.  Today’s match took a different path.

First Half

First 5 minutes saw some even play and then the match took a turn with Kier passing through to Jack who was denied a goal through off side.  Undeterred Cranleigh pushed on and piled on the pressure and within a minute Jack scored a low shot which snuck in just inside the post. 1:0

The Oscar/Jack combination up front worked well and was supported well by the rest of the team in particular Adib who was battling for every ball and narrowly missed scoring.  Oscar also had a crack at the goal which was saved by their goalie who was getting more and more covered in mud as he throw himself around the goal mouth.

After 20 minutes and continued pressure with a series of corners we were frustratingly denied two goals.  There was some good mid field play and a strong team effort with positive passing.  Special mention to Leo who worked tirelessly and pushed the ball to the attack with some great play.

It was only in the last minutes of the first half with a cracking pass from Bertie which reached Harvey who powered the ball into the back of the net from 15 yards. 2:0

Second Half

Loxwood came out fighting and caught us napping in the first minute and scored with a superb strike which found the top right of our goal.  2:1

Loxwood looked like a different team for the first 10 minutes as they pushed hard and narrowly missing another goal.  You could see the boys start to pick up the pace and get back in control.  The whole team worked well together with James and Harry keeping a strong defence and Thomas pulling things together in the midfield.  The result was a great run from Jack who managed to sneak the ball pass the keeper and over the line.  A bit of controversy as to whether it was a goal but the Cranleigh Dads were clear – 100% over the line.  3:1

We were back in the game and a shot into the area again found Jack who completed an impressive 360* back header into the goal finishing the match 4:1.

Awesome result.  Onwards and upwards.

Final score: Loxwood 1, Cranleigh 4 (Harvey 1, Jack 3)
